About Julia
My love of crafts started in my childhood. I have tried my hand at rock carving, glass blowing, stained glass, chair caning, crocheting, and so many more mediums until I landed on embroidery and textile art. I received my MFA in Fiber Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 2016. While living in Kanazawa, Japan, I took my first traditional embroidery class, where I learned that there are a lot of rules my mother never taught me. In 2022, I took part in Hand & Lock’s Prize and won third place in the Open Textile Art category. I am currently exploring botanical still-lifes on secondhand denim.
I am originally from a small town in Ohio, and currently living in Los Angeles, California.
